Relax...not doing it.

The roof is done.  The dormer is done enough.  There are no more pressing projects.  Todd is almost done clearing out of the flume.  It is time to relax a bit and enjoy the place....
okay, so the pool shot is not mine..but Cindy d's reality.

Big Brother

June Bug is learning lots from big brother Henry.  The other day's lesson was "barking at squirrels up a telephone pole."  Between the two of these fur balls we should not have any rodent problems.

Dormer progress

On Tuesday, July 3 I started helping Ryan Hays, our neighbor, with building a dormer on the house.  The first day was lots of prep and setting the posts.
The second day the shape started coming together.  We worked very hard on the Fourth of July holiday.
Here is how the dormer looks as of Today- Sunday.  It is primed and ready to be painted.  Some day we will build a porch underneath but there are a few more projects in line before that.  The roof should be finished by the end of next week.

Another project we finished today was painting of the half-bathroom- cool cucumber.  We removed the vanity and replaced it with a simple oval mirror.  Look at what I found in the bathroom sink after taking the picture.....

Knee high

If I recall the mid-west saying correctly:
The corn should be knee high by the Fourth of July.
It looks as if we are well on our way to having some sweet corn!
Tomatoes are in the ground. I have harvested some beets, radishes, and zucchini already.

Dormer construction Part one

Starting on Tuesday, I have been helping our neighbor Ryan put a dormer on the front of our house.  Here is a before picture with the roof shingles torn off:

And here is a picture as of the end of work today:

It is going to be such a great addition to our house.  Transform if from bring Ranch style to something with a bit more depth.
