Grad school budget

Anyone have $6000 laying around?
I need to purchase two 110W solar panel systems plus two flow meters to attach to my sediment monitors that should have been installed a month ago. Or does any one have one I can borrow? Sitting in your closet someplace?
I could purchase a fleet of rafts with the cost of this project.

Luna Fest

Last night I went to Luna fest..alone like usual. the festival was organized by UI Women's Center and showed the 2009 collection of short films by women for women. the proceeds went to cancer research and the Women's Center.
Check out descriptions of the short films here.
The ones I liked were:
Big girl (so cute)
Sarah in the Dark (I have the same voice)
Grappling Girls (so inspirational)
Kaden (although the topic is controversial, his points about feeling in place in society are insightful)
My First crush (I like animation)

Unfortunately, i cannot find links to these movies for you to watch but if Luna Fest 2009 comes near you, check them out. I find independent films more real and personal than big budget corporate films. the artists also can have more freedom.

Wish

I wish to spend many days on a river in the summer. Me and Henry, self contained on a raft seeing the many beautiful canyons and environments that water has helped create on this great planet. To get there I am looking for a used raft:

This was such a neat movie. It was a surreal fantasy about the human teenage trait of scorning one's parents and wanting to fit in to the real world. check it out! The cinematography and animation are well worth the good story.

FLOW

This here is a movie everyone should watch:
FLOW: For the love of water.

be warned it is not a feel good movie, its a documentary type film discussing the commercialization of water worldwide. why should you care? Most bottled water is packaged tap water being sold to you. The very same bottled water maybe drying up wells of people who can not afford to buy the bottled water and a dry well will provide no water for these folks to drink.
After watching the movie, I felt helpless. What am I doing to help with this very plight? I talk and talk about it but really, WHAT and I doing??
and to answer that question opens a can of Pandora's worms. The Mountain Goats are signing on the radio.

wish list

i wonder sometimes why people get so caught up in needing someone, partner wise that is, that they go to blind dating spots: "women seeking Men". Then I get in situations where I have no one. Like many busy women, we have little time to go out and strut our stuff, and with out the girlfriend there, it feels even more like stalking to go out alone, looking like a starving cougar.
School gets really stressful and I just want a stress release. Here is an article exemplifying why I wish for a few hours with a lusty man.
So those of you women out there that say "go for it" ask the guy. Welcome to Moscow, ID. There are very few available men in any legal age range. Those who are available are looking for a girlfriend and I am not their type (assumed from the rejection or lack of further interest from them) or I am not willing to change myself to fit their ideal.

Gotta get to my statistics homework....

Spring is in the air

Spring is coming! For those folks who live inthe warmer climates, you may not understand the wonderful joys that buds on a tree branch, or the green of a emerging crocus flower can bring.
The owls must have found partners, their hoots have quieted at night. In the neighborhood, atleast 5 different owls have been hooting for the past two months. Some nights it bothers my dog and we go out to find the horned birds. I have only seen one in flight. They usually are roosted in the pine trees and not easily visible.

send in the Whaaaamubulance. I have been a spoiled crying brat lately. Things are not going my way. i have to do work. whaaaa, whaaa, i dont want to do it!!!! ahahahhaahhhhhh.

Surrender

Thanks Gina. To dwell more on to the word Surrender, I Googled it. Music videos, army stories, and self improvement showed up. Lots of fun checking stuff out and a better distraction than that gossip web page. A shameful time crunch.
