SFSalmon Weekend in April

Saturday afternoon, we bugged out of town to head north, into the trees, where rivers flow free.  Our destination was the South Fork Salmon River.  A lovely spot to enjoy spring time.  Well, not as lovely as it was years ago before the burns.  The upper drainage is torched.  However, vegetation is on the rebound.  Many lodgepole pines are over a foot high.  The willows and dogwoods are blooming.  And I saw some aspen trees that survived the flames.  The thoughts of aspen grove populating the drainage feels like the anticipation of spring bulbs in the fall.  So much color will abound.

Along the river corridor are hot springs and we visited one.  It was not soakable as the river flow was to high but we were able to take a shower.

Camp was pleasant.  I greatly enjoy the open area of Poverty Flats, so does Henry.  The guy ran and ran like I have not seen him run in a long time.  He was on the ball, senses sharp.
